I was a SIGINT linguist (98G) (see http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjobs/a/98g.htm) for the Army. Language college was at the Defense Language Institute (virtually any foreign language) located in Monterey California (Super Great Duty Station!! – you can hear the seals bark from the college!!) on the Presidio of Monterey Army base. Devote over a year there understanding a language. From there you go to a specialized school to target your talent. Then on to your duty station. If i told you any much more i would have to kill you considering that this job is classified. If you go Air Force it will be there or at a Air Force base most likely in San Antonio, Texas (a wonderful place also). I believe ground is only to mean that you will be sitting in a chair on the ground as apposed to getting in an aircraft. Crypto refers to the job getting classified (see kill notice). Fantistic job, go to foreign countries and… See http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjo2/a/26.htm.
